How do you register an RTX repeater with Gigaset phones? This is one of the most common questions we are asked here at liGo. It's a relatively simple process, but it can be a bit confusing if you aren't familiar with repeaters. So- we've put together a complete guide on how to get your new repeater up and running!
To walk you through the process, here's Daniel with a quick video guide. You'll find step-by-step written instructions below.
Before You Start
A repeater works by taking in the signal from your cordless phone base station, and then "repeating" it- hence the name. If you put it in the right place, you could therefore get up to double the range. To begin, though, we need to have the repeater in the same room as your base station. Otherwise, you'll end up dashing to and fro while you set things up. You'll also need a spare power socket to plug the repeater into, to.
Configure Your Handset
Now that you're ready to begin, the first thing to do is get your phone system ready. To do this, open up the Settings menu on a handset, and go into "ECO DECT". You'll need to make sure this mode is turned off, or the repeater won't be able to work properly. "Maximum range" should be turned on, and "No radiation" should be turned off.
With that done, go back to the main Settings menu, and scroll up to System. From there, turn "Encryption" off. Once that's done, your phones are configured correctly, and it's time to pair up the repeater!
Pairing Your Base Station and Repeater
On your phone base station, there will be a paging button. Press and hold this down for approximately five seconds. Most base stations, such as the C570A base in the video, will make a beep to tell you that it is in pairing mode. Others, like the GO box, won't make a beep. However, so long as you have held the button for five seconds, you can move on to the next step.
Plug your RTX 4022 repeater into the power, and flip it over. On the back, you'll find a button that looks a bit like a toggle. You'll now need to press and hold this for approximately ten seconds, making sure you press it down firmly. The light on the front of the repeater should now start to flash rapidly.
Finally, grab your handset again, and press 2 and then the green call button- as if you were making a call. Wait two seconds, and then press the star key and the red end call button. The light on the front of the repeater should now turn a solid green, to show you that it's paired up successfully.
It's worth noting that RTX repeaters can sometimes be a bit temperamental. If you find that things aren't going as they should, you may need to start the pairing process again. Unplug the repeater, wait about twenty seconds for any residual power to disperse, and then try again from the beginning.
Positioning Your Repeater
Now that the repeater is paired with your base, it will remain paired even if you unplug it from the power. That's handy, since we're about to do exactly that!
If you leave your repeater plugged in next to the base station, it won't make any difference to your cordless phone range. Instead, you'll want to reposition it as far as you can get from the base, while still in range. If you've bought a repeater because of existing problems with poor range, then you'll likely know how far you can get already. If not, then test it out by making a call, and then walking away from your base until the signal drops out.
The great thing about RTX repeaters is that they only need a small amount of signal to work. They will then boost that signal back to virtually full power again. When you plug in your repeater, the light on the front should stay green. If it turns red, then you'll need to move it a bit closer to your base station.
We hope that this guide has helped you register your RTX repeater successfully. If you run into any issues, or have a question about the process, then please feel free to get in touch with our customer service team- we'll be more than happy to help!
