RSPB 8x20 HD Monocular

I have similar spec. 8x21 Docter mono, 8x20 Swarovski binos and this 8x20 RSPB mono. The order of sharpness is: Swarovski, Docter and RSPB but that is tough competition and being third is not a criticism! It is sharper than my Kowa and Opticrons.

The excellent eye-relief allows a sharp, full-circle image making it much easier for 'viewing' than the Docter if you wear glasses and being waterproof it is more often with me. Focus is stiff and it does not 'snap' into focus so I find myself focus-hunting with the RSPB. Because it is so light, the best way to hold it is in a 'fist' braced against your face BUT that makes it even more difficult to focus.

My irreplaceable old 8x20 Swarovskis are better in all respects BUT if I am going somewhere risky, I am very pleased to have the RSPB mono in my pocket. It is acceptably sharp and with caps & wrist-strap, it only weighs 122gms.

Seriously thinking about buying this monocular your reviews have helped enormously the leica is a class act but I’m not sure I can justify the extra £300

As an avid hiker, I need gear thats lightweight but still performs well, and the RSPB 8x20 HD Monocular delivers. The magnification is solid, and the image quality is sharp for such a small piece of kit. Its great for quickly scoping out distant trails or wildlife. The only reason Im giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of a wider field of view. But if youre after portability and decent magnification, this is still one of the best monoculars Ive used.

I wasnt sure what to expect from a monocular this small, but the RSPB 8x20 HD Monocular really exceeded my expectations! I bought it for nature walks and casual birdwatching, and Im blown away by the crisp, bright images it delivers. Its lightweight, which makes it super convenient to carry in my purse. The focus is easy to adjust, and the durability seems solid for outdoor use. Overall, this little monocular is pretty impressive!
